2002 in Review

Web Page Launched

The long awaited website for Hacienda Kennels was launched in August 2002 and has proved quite successful. It now makes life easier not having to send photos and pedigrees separately!

Jazzlets in the Whelping Box

After the long wait of bitches missing, etc. etc. we had our long awaited and anticipated progeny from Nz. & Mal. Ch. Tiermark Jazz (Imp Nz). Jazz was very kindly sent on loan to us by his breeders Alison and Brian Townsend and we are eternally grateful to them for allowing Jazz to come across for a stud holiday in Malaysia and also to be shown here to his Malaysian Champion title as well. Not only did he do both of that, but also managed to win one Reserve Best in Show in 2001 and several Hound Groups in 2002. Thank you once again Alison & Brian for allowing us the privelege of owning Jazz and ofcourse the Jazzman himself, who was always an over enthusiastic stud dog who was only too happy to "do" the girls.

Jazzlets dominate the Ring

2002 has been the year of the Jazz kids as two Jazz daughters have attained their local Malaysian titles and one daughter in the Philippines has gained her Philippine title. More information about their wins is listed elsewhere in the Herald.

Farewell Jazz

Jazz also left to return home to NZ in November and will complete Quarantine and be home in time for Christmas. His breeders ofcourse are eagerly awaiting his return as he is one truly special boy with a character to boot!! He's very much missed here especially by his kennel companion Mouse.

Ewe Lil Beauty Indeed!!!

At our prestigious Asian Kennel Union Show 2002, Petra - Asian & Mal. Ch Hacienda Ewe Lil Beauty, had her first outing in the showring aged 7 months and won the Bitch CC, Best of Breed and went on to win 3rd in Group which meant she earned the title of Asian Champion! This win was doubly special as not only was it our 5th Asian Champion title winner from this kennel, but importantly our first homebred one! The title of Asian Champion can only be won at the AKU show every year and is only awarded to Group place getters. Not content with her third in Group, Petra also went on to win Best Puppy in Show at the AKU 2002!!

Petra has been shown 3 times and by her third show aged 9 months she'd attained her Malaysian Champion title, winning 3 CC's, 2 Best of Breeds, 1 RBOB, 3 Best Puppy in Group and 2 Best Puppy in Show!! Petra is sired by Nz & Mal. Ch. Tiermark Jazz Ex Mal. Ch. Hacienda Bet On Black (IID Aust).

Aussie Invasion

May 2002 saw the arrival at Hacienda of 5 new Aussies. 2 Std. Longhair pups and 3 Std. Smooths. Two of the five have been shown and have made their presence felt in the Ring this year. We hope to campaign the other three in 2003 and pictures and more information about them is on our webpage. The other three are Jumarnic Big Brother (Ben), Dabarlyn American Magic (Shrek) & Jumarnic Sumthin Special (Princess).

Ben is a son of the top winning Aust & Eng. Ch. Laen Rumourz Run Riot at Hampdach, who is the UK's Top Smooth 2002, out of Australia's #2 Std. Smooth Bitch Grand Champion - Aust Gr. Ch. Jumarnic Home Maid.

Princess was very kindly sent to us in whelp to Aust. Ch. Lauralee High And Mighty (Imp UK). She had 4 pups of which we're running on two for the showring. Watch out for them in 2003!!

Shrek is a son of our Karri (Mal. Ch. Hacienda Asian Express) who was sent to Oz in 2000 and was mated to Am & Aust Ch. Slamdunks Fast Break. Slow to mature, we hope to have Shrek in the ring in 2003.

As always, our sincerest appreciation to Mark & Justine Yardley for these 3 dogs and we say a BIG "Thank You" for your continued help, support and friendship.

Aust. & Mal. Ch. Laen Honour Bound

We are very priveleged to have Bounty join us for a stud holiday and profusely thank his breeders Jackie & Gloria Neal in QLD for allowing Bounty to join us for a while. We look forward to using him at stud in 2003, now that our former resident stud muffin has returned home. Bounty cruised to his local Malaysian title with In Group and In show wins each time out!

Mal. Ch. Teckeldow Parfait Amour at Hacienda

Flame has done  very well so far and gained her Malaysian champion title with ease and in style by winning Reserve Best in Group and Best Puppy in Group the day she won her third CC. We look forward to her growing more coat, to be serioulsy campaigned next year.

IID Bubs

Part of our Aussie Invasion was 4 pups Imported in Dam, of which we're running on two girls, Patsy - Hacienda Good Time Girl (Choc/tan) & Kushi - Hacienda Going Places (Red). We're looking forward to showing them in 2003.

2 Hacienda Philippine Champions

In July 2002 Hacienda Feelin Flirty - Tango & Hacienda Enough Of Ewe - Pepper, left for their new home in Manila Philippines. Tango & Pepper are owned by Bob Dawson and both won their local titles there in style with several In Group wins along the way. Tango was first to get his title in October (aged 8 months) followed by Pepper who gained hers in November (aged 9 months).

Tango is sired by our Sth. African Import Mal. Ch. Waydack Walking on Air at Hacienda Ex Jumarnic Cher, whilst Pepper is by Nz. & Mal. Ch. Tiermark Jazz Ex Mal. Ch. Hacienda Bet on Black (IID Aust). Pepper is a litter sister to Asian & Mal. Ch. Hacienda Ewe Lil Beauty.

These are Hacienda's first Philippine Champions and we hope there will be many more to come!

Off 'Downunder'

In September this year we bid Farewell to 3 of our gang who were headed Downunder. Mal. Ch. Hacienda A Step of Faith (Faith) and Ralines Ruthless at Hacienda (Bertie) will permanently  join the Tradedach kennels of Chris Brell in Canberra.

Our third interpid traveller is the Globe trotter Khan, Mal. Ch. Waydack Walking on Air at Hacienda who is going Downunder on loan to Laen & Jumarnic kennels for stud work.

We wish them every success and hope to have great news to report back in 2003!! All the best!!

Celebrating our 25th Champion

Mal. Ch. Atreides Good As Gold by Hacienda, Georgia, gained her Malaysian Champion title in December this year becoming Hacienda's 25th Dachshund Champion owned or bred by us. She is also this kennels 12th homebred Champion bearing the HACIENDA affix.

Georgia has had some lovely In-Group and In-show wins along the way, and is by Nz. & Mal. Ch. Tiermark Jazz Ex Camelot Dynamic Leia and was co-bred.

'Funny' Addition

June 2002 saw the arrival at Hacienda of a strange looking Dachshund - strange, as she was not a Dachie but an English Cocker Spaniel from the UK, aptly named Charbonnel Cowboys N Kisses at Hacienda.

Annie as she's know at home, will be making her showring debut next year so Watch this Space!!
We'd like to thank her breeder Sandy Platt for this lovable horror!!

Special Thanks

Heartfelt thanks to our various handlers this year who have helped us out when we were shorthanded! Thanks to Sharan, Irene & not forgetting Sam Taylor and Kerry Clarke who had to "sing for their supper" on their visit to Malaysia by helping us handle the boys at the MIPE International Show in March 2002. (Apologies for the poor pic resolution)

Special thanks also to all our other friends near and far, who have been helpful and supportive throughout 2002. Last but not least and most importantly the BIGGEST THANKS to my family who have continually supported me, stood by me & put up with me and the Hounds!!! Thanks heaps!!! I owe you all BIG TIME!!!
